Creativity. Need to use it.

When I was young, I was a leader of a robot team. As a leader, I had to think of a robot for the competition that was coming up. It took me 3 weeks to think of a robot that can fit into the standards of the competition. We started to build the robot and the day of the competition came. When it was that day, we headed to the center and we were checking if everything was alright. However, we found out that we did not bring one kit that had some important parts of the robot. We did not have enough time to head back to the center. We had to make some parts of the robot missing by ourselves. As we were heading to the competition place in the center, we were very nervous and we tried to laugh but obviously we could not. As I was thinking about the way to make parts of the robot, I told my teammates to start making robot while I make the parts. I took some steel from the center, and I cut them in pieces while reconnecting some parts to make the length perfect. We had made the robot and the result was 2nd place. Thus, I used my creativity when thinking of the robot and when making missing parts of the robot.

KMLA Friend

It was a fine autumn day. My friend was in the class, looking at the quiz score. As I was watching him, he gazed at the book and bit his lips. I just immediately knew that he did not get the score he can be satisfied. Then, the class ended and he went outside alone and started to go to the next class alone unlike him. He usually went with other guys like me but he kind of hurried and went out. Realizing there was something about him, I went after him and caught him. I told him that ruining one quiz does not ruin his life. He just hit my arm and laughed awkwardly. I kept on talking and I told him he can do better next time and just think of this quiz as getting future's bad luck right now. Then, the next word he told me made me feel shocked. He said that he does not deserve to be treated like this. Then, I told him that I do not want you to feel like that. I told him that if he wants to pay back to me, he can go to another person who is having a hard time and give that guy a boost. I just told him it is just like an economy. It just rotates, like money! After looking back what I said to him some days ago, I knew that I am now a bit more like adult. I felt very proud of myself since I thought I am now a person who can make others rely on me. From this incident, I learned that I am growing.

Essay in Mr.Moon's Class

Globalization. This is what is happening all around the world. Every country is becoming similar to each other as time passes. The only factor that can make difference is creativity. Imagine that your everyday life is same and every country and place is similar. This life is not fun at all. However, with creativeness, people can make differences and life will be better.

     To begin with, creativeness gives people variations in their choices. Since humans make choices all the time, variation is needed. For example, I had to make my choice when I was picking which high school to go. If I did not have any choice, I would not be in KMLA right now. Without choice, people will have to live similar lives without any difference with others. Human being is unique one by one and thus creativeness is necessary in order to make people’s lives different from each other.

     Furthermore, as I have mentioned, the world is becoming to one. As the world becomes similar, creativeness will be much more required. For instance, as the world becomes similar, traditions and other countries’ unique systems will disappear. To prevent this from happening, people need a mind of creativeness. If people have this mind, they will always search for difference and countries will not be similar to each other. To conclude, being creative is important more than ever since world is becoming similar to each other.

     To sum up, I believe that creativeness is much more important nowadays. First, variations are needed for people to enjoy their lives. Second, the world is becoming similar to each other making countries’ unique systems disappear.

Review on "I Am Number Four"

This movie is basically about a boy with special power fighting for his life. He is from an outer planet and another planet's people try to kill him and his friends. There are nine special kids that were sent to Earth to come back when they are old enough to overpower the planet's threats. They can only be killed in order and three kids were killed. Now it is number four's turn to die and he fights back to live. He trains and while training he meets a girl he believes his eternal love. His race of people can only love one person throughout his life. As he falls in love with this girl, this girl becomes one of the reasons he wants to stay. Because he stays in one place, the other race hunts him down and his guardian dies trying to save him. He is furious and tries to gather other numbers to fight against the other species. Number Six comes and they fight against them and wins. They leave the place to find other numbers and the movie ends. In the criteria of story, I thought it was "so-so" since the story itself did not have a lot of impact.
As I was watching the movie, I thought it had a lot of things to think about. For one, I thought about human's love. Humans keep on changing their love unlike the one in the movie. Moreover, I imagined if I could try to keep something that is importnat even risking my life. Since I believe that this movies made me think about a lot of subjects, I believe that this movie was good.
About CG, I belive this movie had a fairly good CG since it had a lot of lasers and people flying and fireworks.

Stand By Me

In the story "The Body" written by Stephen King, there are four boys with different characteristics. From this, I thought about my dream after graduating high school. My dream nowadays is to go on a trip with just a bag after graduating. I want to go on a trip with just a bag around all parts of Korea with my friend. Since this story is about going on a trip to find a dead body, I thought about my dream. In order to go on a trip, I would have to plan and pack small amounts of necessities since I will bring just a bag. I believe that this sequence to the trip is very fun and I really hope to go on a trip after graduating high school.

In Kim Ki Duk's film Spring part, I felt strongly about what I was like when I was young. I guess I was like the kid in the film,too. I was always making ants suffer like the kid made fish,frog, and snake suffer. However, I did not know until now that I have made a big mistake back then. As I was watching the movie, I was looking at the kid and the teacher and felt 'Ah! that boy is like me and he is making a big mistake.' If I could go back to past, I would not have repeated the same mistake and would make other friends stop.
About teacher's teaching method, I was really touched. The teacher did not say a thing and he just tied the kid up and made the kid feel the same way. Also, the kid understood and felt that he had made a big mistake. I believe that showing by action is much better than talking to a child since children do not understand easily when they are talked to make them see that they are wrong. On the contrary, when they are shown by action that they did something wrong, children regret and do not make same mistakes.
I hope I can be like the teacher in the film when I raise my children in the future. Without scolding, I believe that showing by action is the best way to make children feel they have made mistakes.

Metafiction

"What needs to be done has to be done." I was murmuring to myself. Maybe I was saying this to rationalize myself for killing him. Why... Why did I pull that trigger!! No, it was self-defense. After all, he did try to kill me!! He pulled out a knife all of a sudden and tried to stab me.
However, what if my friend was just joking? Maybe he had a fake knife! That's why I have to go back and find out if it is a real knife or a fake knife. As I was heading towards the crime scene, I saw a car of my friend's... Woah... That was my DEAD friend's car!!! What the heck is happening??
I turned around and followed that car. It stopped right in front of my house and my friend walked out with a knife. What was he doing? As he was going to my house, he looked at my car.. No, did he really? This cannot be... He was coming my way. I started my car and just ran away.

Shawshank Redemption

When I first read this novel, I had the impression that this book is really fun. However, when I saw the movie, I thought that movie is mcuh better. I like the movie better because of several reasons.
To begin with, the best part I like about the movie was the part where Andy reveals all the secrets about Norton. Since Norton was much more evil in the movie, I felt much better when Norton died.
Furthermore, Red looked much more kind in the movie since he did not threaten Andy and his accent was really fun.
To sum up, I liked movie much better than the book.

Transformer's hero joruney

ACT I

1. Ordinary World: He is a whiny boy.

2. Call to Adventure: He meets Bumblebee in car shop.

3. Refusal of the Call: When Sam sees Bumblebee sending signal to the other autobots, he refuses realizing it.

4. Meeting the Mentor: Optimus comes and explains the situation to Sam.

5. Crossing the Threshold: When Sam goes to his house to look for his glasses.


ACT II 

6. Tests, Allies, Enemies: Bumblebee gets caught by Sector 7, Autobots and Humans get allied, Decepticons come.

7. Approach to the Innermost Cave: Sam arrives to Sector 7 with other characters.

8. Ordeal: Megatron gets free from the ice and fight begins.

9. Reward: Saves Bumblebee and Cube safely.


ACT III 

10. The Road Back: Have street combats to move cube to the safe place.

11. Resurrection: Sam puts cube into Megatron's heart and destroys both of them.

12. Return With the Elixir: Goes back to normal life with his girlfriend.

Creativity. What is it?

 What is creativity? Creativity means "the state of being creative." Then what does creative mean? In Webster's Dictionary for Students, creative means "able to create new and original things." However, do students have ability to create something new nowadays? The main source of the problem regarding creativeness is today's school education system.


 To begin with, the school's education system hinders students' creativity. In schools, what do we learn? Students learn same subjects more focused on academic subjects such as Math, Korean, and English. Most of the people believe that students have to be good at academic subjects in order to live a successful life when they grow up. However, there are a lot of students who have great talents at non-academic subjects. Then, it would be better for those students to focus more on the other subjects they are actually great at. For example, students who are good at sports should practice sports at schools beginning from elementary school while ones who are good at academic subjects should study at class. Thus, education kills students' abilities and creativeness because of the wrong education system.


 Furthermore, in a sense that children are more imaginative than adults, the truth that education lowers ability of being creative can be inferred. Students are forced to sit and study the same subjects every day. There are seldom chances of drawing and singing which help increase students' abilities of being original. For instance, when children do not go to school and play at home, they have a lot of curiosity and pick up things to make a picture or form a shape. However, as they go to schools and start to lose chances of playing, their ability to be creative decreases. At last, when they become adults, their lives are no fun at all. They wake up, go to work, come back home, and sleep. This boring pattern of life repeats over and over and they even do not care much about it. To conclude, children grow up to be uncreative.


 Lastly, education systems have to be changed in order to make students become creative especially in Korea. In Korea, parents are always forcing their children to study if they want to live successful lives in the future. Students live listlessly because they are busy going to academies or study rooms believing what their parents say. However, when walking around the streets, it is hard to see academies about music or physical education for students. For example, when you ask a walking student on a street "what academies do you go?" Then the answer would be "Math, Korean, Physics, English, Chinese, and Economics." Thesedays, students are studying machines. If the society wants the students to be creative, the society should change. The schools should make creativity classes for students.

 To sum up, I agree to the idea of Ken Robinson since it is obvious that education kills creativeness of students. To make students more creative, the society has to change greatly. It is time to get out of the traditional minds and try some changes for our bright future.

As a writer

 The first time I got this assignment, I thought that this assignment does not make sense. Since I do not exactly know what my writing style is, I thought that this assignment is going to be really demanding. First, I read through my writings but I could not find much information since I erased them all. So, I read all the paperback writings I did. I found out that all my writing styles are adapted to TOEFL writings. I felt kind of bad since I felt like I did not have my own style of writing. However, I tried to think positively and I found out that if I am adapted to TOEFL, I will be able to write essays that need firm structures easily. Thus, I think that my strong point about writing is that I can write formal essays easily.
 What I need to improve is grammar and my example. All the time I write, I cannot easily think about what examples I should write to make my writing more supportive. After thinking for a long time, I come up with stupid ideas about example even which I think is ridiculous. Also, about the grammar, after I write, I proofread and I cannot find mistakes usually. However, when the teachers correct my writings, I make a lot of mistakes about grammar.
 The ultimate goal about writing for me is to get out of TOEFL writing. I want to achieve this goal because I feel like I am stuck with this writing style.
 The writing I am most proud of is the writing I wrote when I was 7. I like this writing the most since this writing makes me feel a lot about my past. First, I felt that I was really young at that time. This is because I wrote in my writing “I played with my friend. It was fun.” I wrote this simple sentence just for my diary. I think it is kind of fun to say, but I felt that this writing is very clean from the world. I felt that I was really happy back then. After reading this, I looked about my present state. I felt very ashamed of myself because I have made so many mistakes and I know that I am a very bad person now. I set my goal to become a very clean and nice person to everyone.
 What I want from this class is fun. I do not want just fun. I want to learn about writing and how to improve on my writing and view of reading. I really expect to raise my writing and English ability this semester and I am taking a lot of English courses such and English literature. Also, what I do not want from this class is too much work to be honest. I know I should not be saying this kind of words, but since you told me to be honest!!! Lastly, I really want to be very friendly with the class and have a lot of fun throughout this semester.
